The Summer Job

Well… something big in my life has happened! I have just been cast in my first professional theatre job! I auditioned for the Neil Simon Festival about 4-5 weeks ago… and hadn’t heard anything back from them, and so I gave up thinking I would get anything. I especially wasn’t expecting to get a lead of any kind. Then yesterday I received a call and was offered the lead parts of Paul “Bratter in Barefoot in the Park” and Axel Hammond in “The Nerd”. You might recognize Barefoot in the Park as the movie starring Robert Redford and Jane Fonda. The Nerd is a well known comedy and after reading it today I have no doubt that it will be an extremely fun show to be a part of! I am stilling pinching myself, because I can’t believe it! The shows will open in Cedar City on July 14th and run through August 13th! Look Ma’ I’m a real Actor!

The Art of Being Nerdy

I think it would be no surprise to any of you to know that I am a huge nerd! I enjoy some of the most nerdy pastimes that I sometimes find myself saying, “Bryant! You’re such a NERD!” This weekend was probably the closest I came to full Nerdom. Joce, Becca, and myself took it upon ourselves to have a Lord of the Rings style photo shoot. Now it is important to note that we had a blast, and found the perfect location. By my house is a huge lava field. From the lava field you have great views of Snow Canyon and Pine Valley, which gives it a great “Middle Earth” feel…as well as pictures that we took upstairs at my house. Like the saying goes… “A picture says a thousand words”…here are some pictures.

Cat on a Hot Tin Roof

I know that it has been some time since I have updated my blog. Please forgive me. I have been incredibly busy. School and the show have cut my time to blog… to a bare minimum.

We are now in the second week of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof… it runs from today until saturday. I am looking forward to seeing a large majority of the family on saturday. This show is emotionally exhausting… I get done with the show and I feel like I am going to collapse and sleep for nine years. Tonight is the KCACTF adjudicated shw.

KCACTF is a college theatre festival and competition that allows college students to audition for scholarship money. In order to compete in the festival you have to be nominated by an adjudicator that comes to the show. This adjudicator comes to one of the performances and evaluates the entire production, and then meets with the cast after the show to discuss his/her opinion. A few days later the announcement is made of which two cast members are nominated for KCACTF…. so tonight is a very important night. I am extremely grateful for this show… it has been a fantastic experience and a challenge to my acting abilities.
Come see Cat on a Hot Tin Roof! Runs 4 more nights, from the 9th to the 12th.
